Our restaurant is located at one of the most historic locations in Decatur. In 1907 here sat the Decatur Cereal Mill, where the first corn flakes in the United States were produced. Later it became home to Polar Ice and Coal, which remained a staple in Decatur for over 40 years. In 1976, the Icehouse Restaurant and Banquet Center opened and was a Decatur landmark for over 20 years. Years later, Polar Water operated out of a building that sat in our parking lot, and after 20 successful years, was sold, and the lot cleared to make parking for what is now known as the Brickhouse Complex.
It is because, and thanks to this diverse history that our restaurant has such a unique atmosphere. Whether for a business lunch, casual dinner with friends and family, or just to have a drink, stop by and experience the Firewater Cafe.
